Yes, we can!

The SRC is now in charge of the HIS student blog. We will be making weekly updates now! We will be writing about news, thoughts, events happening in the school, and much more.

To kick the first blog entry off, history was made today!
Barack Obama from the Democratic party has been elected the 44th American President, making him the first black American President! The Civil War and The Civil Rights Movement have not been in vain; they were merely steps leading up to this day that will forever be remembered in history. America has come a long way since then; it has done us proud. It has finally shown us that, and I quote Obama's words, "Yes, we can. Yes, we can change. Yes, we can."

What do you think about this? Are you excited?

PS Check out the HIS photo album. Some photos of the Halloween Dance from last week have been uploaded!

America look up! Bush no longer holds the reins which lead us into the largest financial crisis since the Great Depression and have steered us into a war with Iraq. This is a day for the entire world to remember. Change is forthcoming! I am really excited about Obama's victory. McCain is old and would have probably passed away before he finished his term in office, which would have meant that Sarah Palin would become President.

Ok, sorry. I got sick to my stomach thinking about Sarah Palin being in control of America. I am kind of worried in a way about Barrack Obama being the leader of the US. I can imagine that there will be people who will try to assassinate him because he is black. I hope this is not the case but knowing what I do about America, I think he should double his security...

I am thrilled that Barrack Obama won, and I look forward to what he has in store for the great, U.S.A! Hopefully he can get us out of this financial crisis, but It won't be easy.

Change can only happen through incredible perseverance and hard work. Barak Obama is an inspirational example of somebody wanting to change the world. Today, Americans stood up and said "No More." America and the world can be better today was the first step toward this dream. Now, will each of you sit back or will you "Step It Up" and do your part to make this world a better place.

I just watched the CNN news about the result of the US election, as well as both Obama and McCain's speeches.

I truly admire both man's uniqueness and their strengths on the field of politics. Nonetheless, what impressed me the most about Obama is his ability to inspire hopes for people, as well as his hard work and efforts for making changes to the world.

On the other hand, I'm also impressed by McCain's own way for making changes, as well as the way he carried out the result of the election. I believe it must be very difficult for McCain and his supporters to accept their lost, nonetheless McCain not only respect the result and his opponent, but also constantly reminds his supporters that after the election, they should all come together and support their new president and have faith in their country.

Therefore, I believe that both leaders are influential, and they will bring changes to the world in their own way.

Hey guys. I just stumbled upon this when I was visiting my old blog. There are some good stuffs going on here, and I'm sure that you guys won't mind if I add a couple of comments towards this, right? I was in front of the television in US to witness this historical event happening. This election has brought a huge impact towards the world due to it convey the message that anyone can have a chance of being the president. It also shows that in the US, everyone has a say in the government. This is what we call true democracy. We shall never forget this day, which the world had witness change, and witness history happening infront of our eyes.
